What is the SARS-CoV-2 and Flu A/B Rapid Antigen Combo Test?
As we all know by now, it is often hard to distinguish between Flu and Covid-19 viruses, since both of these diseases have very similar symptoms. With symptoms being so similar, it often means that people may have to go for a series of different tests to determine whether the cough and sore throat that has been persisting for a few days is the Flu or Covid-19. Knowing which of these two types of diseases you have is incredibly important as it can give you a general idea of how long your symptoms will persist and how long you should stay quarantined. Though there are ways to protect yourself and those around you from catching the illness you have, getting a rapid antigen test is always the best proactive measure. To get a Flu test and a Covid test separately can prolong the discomfort that is associated with the testing procedures, which is why a Combo Rapid Antigen Test (RAT) is being developed to provide a testing solution for Flu (Influenza A and B) and Covid-19 viruses.
Rapid antigen tests work by detecting the presence of specific proteins that are produced by a virus. When these specific proteins are detected in the body, a rapid antigen test is able to analyse and determine whether or not these proteins belong to a certain virus. For instance, If you have Covid-19 symptoms, a Covid rapid antigen test will come back positive, as there would be viral antigens in your system. To detect and differentiate Covid-19 and Flu viruses, they are combined into COVID-19 and Flu A/B Rapid Antigen Combo Test and that makes it easier to test for each of these infections using one set of tests.

Self testing is extremely beneficial as this process can be done in the comfort of your own home, car, school, workplace or wherever you want, without you having to travel to get the test done. This also makes testing easy to do and less of a hassle, providing businesses like restaurants with the ability to test those who may be showing symptoms and decrease the chance of spreading the infection to others within an establishment. Having a few tests can also help give you peace of mind if you plan on visiting loved ones and have not felt so great. You may not feel the need to get a professional test done but having a few in your home can be a great way to be prepared!
We here at TouchBio have rapid antigen testing kits with amounts that differ in the number of tests provided within each of the separate offers. For home use, you may want to purchase a box with 1 test kit, 2 tests kit, 5 tests kit, or a box with 20 test kits. As these tests have a 24-month expiry date, it may be more beneficial to have 5 tests kit as this means that you will have leftovers for the next time you are not feeling well!

How to Use COVID-19 and Flu A/B Rapid Antigen Combo Test?
COVID-19 and Flu A/B Rapid Antigen Combo Tests can be used both in point of care as well as self testing. If you are hoping to have a Combo Testing kit to be used as Self Testing, you may be wondering exactly how to use this rapid antigen test to ensure you get the most accurate results! If you have ever taken a Covid test- Self Testing, you would know the basic procedure of this test. On your COVID-19 and Flu A/B Rapid Antigen Combo Test, you will notice that there are four different letters; C, T, B and A. These letters stand for control, Sars-Cov-2 (Covid-19), Influenza B and Influenza A respectively. After collecting your sample by sticking the swab up your nose, you will then drop it on the test device, which will be shown in the instructions for use on the kit.
After having completed the swab of the flu and Covid test and having collected the nasal swab sample, you will need to wait about 15 minutes or so for the results. The control line should be easy to spot when checking your test, if your control line does not appear there may be a problem with the test itself. If there is a line along the letter T as well as along the control line, it means you have tested positive for Covid-19. If there is a line along the letter B and the control line it will mean that you have tested positive for Influenza B and so on. You may have three lines (including the control line), which would mean that you have two types of infections at the same time, which has been known to happen. A standard Covid test would only pick up if you have Covid, not exposing the influenza A or B virus that you may have and vice versa.
Rapid antigen tests are extremely useful as they give quick results and if taken at the right point, when symptoms have shown, they are reliable and generally accurate in the results that they give.
