Surface Guard: Testing in real-world conditions show outstanding antibacterial efficacy over 30 days
Whilst Surface Guard has been formally reviewed and listed by the Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA), Touch Australia pursued further testing which demonstrated that high touchpoint areas treated with Surface Guard were almost sterile after day 30.
Eurofins Laboratories, specialists in product testing, conducted a study for Touch Australia, with the objective of decreasing the number of microorganisms found on both dirty and clean surfaces that Surface Guard had been applied to. A secondary objective was to decrease the overall contamination levels for up to 30 days with a single application.
Surface Guard is a hospital-grade disinfectant, with its efficacy going beyond application. It does not leave surfaces exposed to contamination after application. Once applied, Surface Guard kills germs and pathogens on contact, including COVID-19. It creates a unique antimicrobial layer that protects surfaces for up to 30 days thereafter. Although multiple lab studies and tests confirmed its effectiveness, Touch Australia wanted to confirm Surface Guard’s efficacy in the real world.
Due to the different grades of cleanliness and contamination of different facilities, Surface Guard was tested for 30 days on various high-contact surfaces located throughout Sydney including playgrounds, public facilities, offices, cafes, restaurants, and gaming machines. In total, 60 surfaces were included in this test, from both public and commercial areas.
Methodology
Swab samples were collected after the application of Surface Guard on days 7, 14, 21 and 30. As outlined in Figure 1, untreated surfaces had an average RLU of 2,313, which is an extreme risk of infection. Figure 2 highlights that treated surfaces with Surface Guard after 30 days had an RLU less than 10 , which is considered food safe-nearly sterile (reference table-1).

Conclusion
These tests validated Surface Guard as a viable solution in the real-world, in providing long-lasting residual protection on surfaces with varying grades of cleanliness. Regardless of whether the surface was dirty or clean, it was almost sterile after day 30 substantiating the product's efficacy.
